<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-size: large;"><b>1.... who is your favorite artist?</b></span><br />
<br />
Yasuhiko Yoshikazu (<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yoshikazu_Yasuhiko">link</a>) was one of my favorites growing up and is still my favorite. Osamu Tezuka (<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Osamu_Tezuka">link</a>) is also still a fave.<br />

<span style="font-size: large;"><b>2.... do you offer workshops for artists?</b></span><br />
<br />
No, unfortunately I don't. My deadlines prevent me from mentoring or teaching. It is just a reality of my life at this point. Besides, I'm not the most outgoing of people and am not sure how well I would rate as a mentor/instructor.<br />
<br />

<span style="font-size: large;"><b>3.... what do you like to listen to while you work?</b></span><br />
<br />
When I'm coloring, I listen to the news in Chinese. Conversely, when I'm brainstorming and penciling/inking, I don't listen to anything. Actually, some times I do listen to classical or film score music since there are seldom lyrics to distract me.<br />
<br />

<span style="font-size: large;"><b>4.... what medium and tools do you use to create your art?</b></span><br />
<br />
Pencils, inks, natural paint such as watercolors are combined with digital painting in Photoshop and Painter.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-size: large;"><b>5.... during an average week how many hours a day / week do you work on creating art?</b></span><br />
<br />
About 8 - 10 hours per day, 6 to 7 days a week.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZLV58_0VBolllWF-Ic-Y_9EwOZ8QZAyAVkyja2xwEyaj8pYb3fT8PWr-6YSSLPKDHOHr6oIWHCsqad12K9TNdh6rIN9wdpP0MA9zSCt9U4JKfEag3Jm9_9Tx_brOAfrL0xtEeznt0DxI/s1600/jo6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZLV58_0VBolllWF-Ic-Y_9EwOZ8QZAyAVkyja2xwEyaj8pYb3fT8PWr-6YSSLPKDHOHr6oIWHCsqad12K9TNdh6rIN9wdpP0MA9zSCt9U4JKfEag3Jm9_9Tx_brOAfrL0xtEeznt0DxI/s320/jo6.jpg" width="210" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>6.... are you working your dream job?</b></span><br />
<br />
Sure. I'm still working, periodically, with great people on the Buffy books and other Dark Horse titles, and I'm finally publishing in Japan; a dream of mine since I was little and an aspiring artist living in Taiwan.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiuh0pHmvg1kn3sdBuJsJ3aNc_85RbvV-1KF1Ub59wRUGeF5rBzc-QTWdrXsrwGr0buJJmv7H4JNdAUmFfI8lyLkCPmx8qUT6_g9bZbqx3lfT-Li9fXAo6RcNwSjmSNXknXFzGZTYf8QhM/s1600/jo5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiuh0pHmvg1kn3sdBuJsJ3aNc_85RbvV-1KF1Ub59wRUGeF5rBzc-QTWdrXsrwGr0buJJmv7H4JNdAUmFfI8lyLkCPmx8qUT6_g9bZbqx3lfT-Li9fXAo6RcNwSjmSNXknXFzGZTYf8QhM/s320/jo5.jpg" width="216" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>7.... do you feel its important for others to pursue their dream jobs?</b></span><br />
<br />
Yes, I do. But the blind, crazed pursuit of dreams should always be tempered with realistic assessments of oneself, the setting of achieveable goals and a back-up plan if the dream isn't realized. That way, you may pursue with the peace of mind that comes with having a fallback position so you don't starve and can support yourself and your family. I worked in advertising right out of high school, and if I needed to could go back to it if my comic book career opportunities suddenly dried-up. Have to put food on the table, you know.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-size: large;"><b>8.... where can people see your work (online, conventions or exhibits)?</b></span><br />
<br />
Yes...to all three. Add your to the list your neighborhood comic retailer, and you can see what I'm up to.<br />
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>9.... was there a certain moment that you knew you wanted to be an artist?</b></span><br />
<br />
Yes. When I was 5 or 6, I made the decision to tag along behind my sister, two years older than me, into the profession.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiC1iPe9YJx0eN_BGzIjVUGL_-EJeuoNde-_mBdOO6czhKrzGxDcMBaU3D7LqqXs7D1T3EFhTf8KS-d-foz0LpAzHWp1cHi1aj6s1NEunxClTJvGmMhVKZxbHoTXgO5gvZb2e3zZuI9Hdg/s1600/jo8.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiC1iPe9YJx0eN_BGzIjVUGL_-EJeuoNde-_mBdOO6czhKrzGxDcMBaU3D7LqqXs7D1T3EFhTf8KS-d-foz0LpAzHWp1cHi1aj6s1NEunxClTJvGmMhVKZxbHoTXgO5gvZb2e3zZuI9Hdg/s320/jo8.jpg" width="206" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>10.... is there anything else you would like to add or say to other artists?</b></span><br />
<br />
Work hard. Unless you're a child prodigy and just naturally gifted beyond reason, you will work harder at this than anything else in your life. This, of course, is not a recommendation to neglect your studies (school and grades are important to your back-up plan, if nothing else) but if you are young and just starting down this career path, you better clear your brains of boyfriends and girlfriends, cars, clothes, and hours of wasted time playing video games and texting, posting and tweeting drivel. Take that time and devote yourself to your art instead. There is time later for all of the aforementioned diversions once you've established yourself and are working.<br />

<span style="font-size: large;"><b> 1.... who is your favorite artist?</b></span><br />
<br />
Dont really know, I like a bunch of them, the classics : Like Francisco Goya (<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Francisco_Goya">link</a>), Diego de Velasquez (<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diego_Vel%C3%A1zquez">link</a>), Degas (<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edgar_Degas">link</a>) and Monet (<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Claude_Monet">link</a>) among others, In comic books I like Moebius (<a href="http://www.moebius.fr/">link</a>), Juan jimenez (<a href="http://www.juangimenez.com/">link</a>),Oscar Chichoni (<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oscar_Chichoni">link</a>), Otomo (<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Katsuhiro_Otomo">link</a>), Mike mignola (<a href="http://www.artofmikemignola.com/">link</a>) .and younger artist I like Ashley wood (<a href="http://www.ashleywoodartist.com/">link</a>), Sean Murphy (<a href="http://seangordonmurphy.com/">link</a>)...<br />
in animation I love all the studio 4C (<a href="http://www.studio4c.co.jp/english/">link</a>) stuff and Miyazaki (<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hayao_Miyazaki">link</a>). I think Im kind of promiscuous in my Artist preferences.<br />

<span style="font-size: large;"><b>2.... do you offer workshops for artists?</b></span><br />

I don't offer workshop for artist, but just because no one has asked me to. I've been thinking lately to maybe do a "Design for Production workshop" at some point. Hey, but I'm open to invitations to do shops.<br />

<span style="font-size: large;"><b>8.... where can people see your work (online, conventions or exhibits)?</b></span><br />
<br />
www.williamstout.com, the San Diego Natural History Museum, the Houston Museum of Natural Science, Walt Disney's Animal Kingdom, the San Diego Zoo, Comic-Con International, Dragon*Con, WonderFest...That's a good start.<br />

<span style="font-size: large;"><b>9.... was there a certain moment that you knew you wanted to be an artist?</b></span><br />
<br />
I was going to be a doctor. I got such a crappy English, science and math education at my last high school that I switched my major from Science-Math to Art --- and never looked back.<br />

<span style="font-size: large;"><b>10.... is there anything else you would like to add or say to other artists?</b></span><br />
<br />
Work traditionally, even if you're a digital artist. Always deliver 100% to the best of your abilities. Work hard, play hard. Get out of the house or studio and have adventures in a different part of the world each year. Never stop trying to learn something new.<br />
<br />
I could go on and on; I'm a goddam mountain of advice.<br />

<span style="font-size: large;"><b>1.... who is your favorite artist?</b></span><br />
<br />
now Eric, i think you know this is a difficult question to answer unless i was to list the 'hundreds' of artists i admire and respect.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcMNEk4yRf-qQgf6oya2SALEKi6r1jWCozt2F3NuK2TBebHNZ9okGnjLyk5rjZtin6mrwcqtNOmAyFVy5T6ZqJhYBNrIskjgbTeQwKfAKOP0Cg8nJVVAwLOai2FprxNFIzu69pA9ktBac/s1600/aj1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcMNEk4yRf-qQgf6oya2SALEKi6r1jWCozt2F3NuK2TBebHNZ9okGnjLyk5rjZtin6mrwcqtNOmAyFVy5T6ZqJhYBNrIskjgbTeQwKfAKOP0Cg8nJVVAwLOai2FprxNFIzu69pA9ktBac/s320/aj1.jpg" width="238" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>2.... do you offer workshops for artists?</b></span><br />
<br />
ive never been asked to....i have done some 'lectures' on my methods and techniques for a few universities in Seoul, Korea, and Belgrade, thats about it.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjnELfYoC5JpIlIxkLyMAABQNaynzZt6gPc8j19xFXTFANF2XKtATk7h9XjLgYdq6yWktcGXWro2Oe2da4ZiSLEcr-8sAEHvMbHGdl0yAW-wfTZd_eYeUm5oSRY2vml6g2OHQeLI_oFxMU/s1600/aj2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjnELfYoC5JpIlIxkLyMAABQNaynzZt6gPc8j19xFXTFANF2XKtATk7h9XjLgYdq6yWktcGXWro2Oe2da4ZiSLEcr-8sAEHvMbHGdl0yAW-wfTZd_eYeUm5oSRY2vml6g2OHQeLI_oFxMU/s320/aj2.jpg" width="219" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>3.... what do you like to listen to while you work?</b></span><br />
<br />
if im not listening to audio books then its more often than not grindcore bands, 'napalm death' being the very best of them all ofcourse <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrVWlfKenA1XbKIEnGzKGKJYUSHiYz60Mb79DUx4y-6_FDLVEeKLaeOw0xv4VyDjJ_cp4MckwUS5S8RIK2JfosDeGpfdsgXDg2B0oUSrCaCbW36i7HFpy5mVq0Bo5pA065vlhJIWi7_Do/s1600/aj.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrVWlfKenA1XbKIEnGzKGKJYUSHiYz60Mb79DUx4y-6_FDLVEeKLaeOw0xv4VyDjJ_cp4MckwUS5S8RIK2JfosDeGpfdsgXDg2B0oUSrCaCbW36i7HFpy5mVq0Bo5pA065vlhJIWi7_Do/s320/aj.jpg" width="233" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>4.... what medium and tools do you use to create your art?</b></span><br />
<br />
i use traditional methods such as oils, watercolours etc or digital.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhOcGpm0uETlwrG-UCWqqu9oOOI1OIGua_-oJW_xlgtGOFzyuc4zb7HnSTNG2HOUt7XqlVcqkR_92OEqu_RQ0gAfHWyiz3HY8AAOcLPQj_K_BtzLxe-B6Ygxv24t8vXlIC-K607uuBJFHs/s1600/aj6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhOcGpm0uETlwrG-UCWqqu9oOOI1OIGua_-oJW_xlgtGOFzyuc4zb7HnSTNG2HOUt7XqlVcqkR_92OEqu_RQ0gAfHWyiz3HY8AAOcLPQj_K_BtzLxe-B6Ygxv24t8vXlIC-K607uuBJFHs/s320/aj6.jpg" width="225" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>5.... during an average week how many hours a day / week do you work on creating art?</b></span><br />
<br />
on average i work atleast 12 hours a day, often longer, depending on circumstances.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEguKe9U9OQaaLTv7Nx4zMiwPKx8z476X53sy02IPLKNz7VmspQ24-QS5iQsAV2s_sECBfS0ZadglBzzICeCkFH1ZI6UM9tJescvHqAXGrGi3ug0ZkJF4i3B6Y0ueOUiSuibnfsqusQOE08/s1600/aj4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEguKe9U9OQaaLTv7Nx4zMiwPKx8z476X53sy02IPLKNz7VmspQ24-QS5iQsAV2s_sECBfS0ZadglBzzICeCkFH1ZI6UM9tJescvHqAXGrGi3ug0ZkJF4i3B6Y0ueOUiSuibnfsqusQOE08/s320/aj4.jpg" width="220" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>6.... are you working your dream job?</b></span><br />
<br />
im doing what i enjoy doing yes, not always a 'dream' though. some jobs im given can be a bit of a nightmare sometimes.<br />
<br />
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4SwLx9y_Z5N2j86XPDn2_B6QbEQAvLSYE9uzzCktuzh6JwNdFTtgIG29y-uo1IRwMIBsjqHXrCJb4s_6yY39q8_2ET0derJixyK4P4_zYk7Pz-y9Qk7QVMAITU864RxzEN0JnjWaMCJA/s1600/aj7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="151" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4SwLx9y_Z5N2j86XPDn2_B6QbEQAvLSYE9uzzCktuzh6JwNdFTtgIG29y-uo1IRwMIBsjqHXrCJb4s_6yY39q8_2ET0derJixyK4P4_zYk7Pz-y9Qk7QVMAITU864RxzEN0JnjWaMCJA/s320/aj7.jpg" width="320" /></a> </div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>7.... do you feel its important for others to pursue their dream jobs?</b></span><br />
<br />
well, yes, but im aware that its not always possible ofcourse. if you cant do something you love as a job then i think its important that you atleast try to do what you enjoy in your own time.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgDe-Wj9E6GNooo82KIBxlTSU1ijeHXphCZ_Tb35NRwUKjGwazRPzV88d0KA2nO6WcNls3iG8BSDH9Qm6QzpkD9u6hkZcTDrXqGtGaiuunxW3HMIUEMM7Mltcm4H9swsGuJkvzPDc5sCpA/s1600/aj5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgDe-Wj9E6GNooo82KIBxlTSU1ijeHXphCZ_Tb35NRwUKjGwazRPzV88d0KA2nO6WcNls3iG8BSDH9Qm6QzpkD9u6hkZcTDrXqGtGaiuunxW3HMIUEMM7Mltcm4H9swsGuJkvzPDc5sCpA/s320/aj5.jpg" width="232" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>8.... where can people see your work (online, conventions or exhibits)?</b></span><br />
<br />
online for sure. various publications. i have a gallery in Paris that shows my work sometimes-'galerie daniel maghen' (<a href="http://www.danielmaghen.com/fr/index.htm">link</a>) a very fine bunch indeed. alot of my work is concept work for computer games, as i have to pay those bills so people sometimes see my work without realising its mine.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>9.... was there a certain moment that you knew you wanted to be an artist?</b></span><br />
<br />
yes, when i realised that the artbooks i used to read through in book shops as a kid were not magically appearing or conjured up but they were created by people who actually got paid (if they were lucky) for doing those images.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-size: large;"><b>1.... who is your favorite artist ? </b></span><br />
<br />
Tough question! There are so many brilliant artists out there that inspire me, in all kinds of different styles. It's hard to pick out a single favourite. But I can name a few that I keep coming back to: Paul Bonner (<a href="http://www.paulbonner.net/">link</a>), Craig Mullins (<a href="http://www.goodbrush.com/">link</a>), Justin Sweet (<a href="http://www.justinsweet.com/">link</a>) and Stephan Martiniere (<a href="http://www.martiniere.com/">link</a>). I also like 19th century painters like Anders Zorn (<a href="http://www.anderszorn.org/">link</a>).<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgzMRFqTMliu-50clXfFys3RlnscQk6nJAbamxi30GuYpeyBMl2bNFD_TelKUT3wyx3RVwpPn_RSlkaURgOwDarrkDY6Tq0arrM6Q8BIBiab69c7GzZ9MEvsLHi4-PCjIMrs0EPw1FE8ZM/s1600/mm7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgzMRFqTMliu-50clXfFys3RlnscQk6nJAbamxi30GuYpeyBMl2bNFD_TelKUT3wyx3RVwpPn_RSlkaURgOwDarrkDY6Tq0arrM6Q8BIBiab69c7GzZ9MEvsLHi4-PCjIMrs0EPw1FE8ZM/s320/mm7.jpg" width="235" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>2.... do you offer workshops for artists ? </b></span><br />
<br />
Not really. I've done it a few times but not enough to get into it. I guess I'm still so focused on learning that it feels too early to teach. But I know teaching is a way to learn, too - it forces you to structure your thoughts so you can explain them. I should propably do more of it, I can see myself running out of excuses.<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b><br /></b></span>
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>3.... what do you like to listen to while you work? </b></span><br />
<br />
Almost anything! Since the advent of Spotify I've become a musical omnivore. But it depends a bit on what I'm painting. I still regard heavy metal as existing in some sort of symbiotic relationship with the fantasy genre. There's nothing like a high-pitched vibrato wail to get you into that epic mood!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnYJVVABIWpy34M5Ab4mwh61vkbQ7je29PMQjg-9ksM2J7_2W8FBkvQ69Sb9MjZSGutkVno6UYX5uiBsDSelwyhSf36yhGq_izMqeN49J_axeMvPx8TzZmlkeCIIycXLyuWGvxoDp38e4/s1600/mm1.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="219" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnYJVVABIWpy34M5Ab4mwh61vkbQ7je29PMQjg-9ksM2J7_2W8FBkvQ69Sb9MjZSGutkVno6UYX5uiBsDSelwyhSf36yhGq_izMqeN49J_axeMvPx8TzZmlkeCIIycXLyuWGvxoDp38e4/s320/mm1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>4.... what medium and tools do you use to create your art? </b></span><br />
<br />
Nowadays it's all Photoshop. I like the way digital tools enable you to have a much more experimental workflow. You can try out variations quickly, move stuff around, etc. For me, that freedom boost creativity.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjiE9WndY97BOpYI9W-u0LFCFNfwwy5x0otcUuOmKnv6EwtjPbo5nzMLotHmAmUKyjuEqRN4i9Zp2bojQr_PfpaEGOsy7BaFZpwpJzoZ3KGMhLJCwGs4FW_xh2ax_34lbABxqWP0yZdwoI/s1600/mm3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="219" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjiE9WndY97BOpYI9W-u0LFCFNfwwy5x0otcUuOmKnv6EwtjPbo5nzMLotHmAmUKyjuEqRN4i9Zp2bojQr_PfpaEGOsy7BaFZpwpJzoZ3KGMhLJCwGs4FW_xh2ax_34lbABxqWP0yZdwoI/s320/mm3.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>5.... during an average week how many hours a day / week do you work on creating art? </b></span><br />
<br />
I aim for eight hours a day, five or six days a week, but in reality it varies quite a bit depending on the workload. Sometimes I do nothing but work, eat and sleep for months at a time. Sometimes the workload is a lot thinner, but then there is always something else I should be doing - practice drawing whatever I'm lousiest at, work on my own paintings, etc. However, I'm careful to separate work from free time by not working from home. I go to a separate studio that I share with some other people. To me, that's psychologically important.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQYxVbbEPCUoJKAO71AMw-68GEM_97cIn5jIwCb0A9xrSem_fD5HewotqaOBs5z64EBYvsKzSRiHAgB8VzZHgcEis0eAZElFgDBp0SeJWpJEXr0q3XALW6dbp-2Ve6xN8wIO9FFKvGFIk/s1600/mm5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQYxVbbEPCUoJKAO71AMw-68GEM_97cIn5jIwCb0A9xrSem_fD5HewotqaOBs5z64EBYvsKzSRiHAgB8VzZHgcEis0eAZElFgDBp0SeJWpJEXr0q3XALW6dbp-2Ve6xN8wIO9FFKvGFIk/s320/mm5.jpg" width="225" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>6.... are you working your dream job? </b></span><br />
<br />
In many ways, yes. I love drawing and I've always been doing it. I might not have a blissful smile fixed on my face every single day, and I might not be the richest man on the planet, but I definitely consider it a luxury to spend all those hours doing something that I actually care about, rather than something I'm indifferent to. For me, that's important.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxwx4JCuGwPFFTEaD6AQ5lpraIw3jjv9gdnzzre2qZA2f-IAKAn3xQ4aw8EjcP_hnGiTrfec1pe6nTV6U_4arhdLLkAvxsFRqU6OVdsF77vTenpYX_wJiYnqhvAMfQlwEb9oMphUQxbcg/s1600/mm8.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxwx4JCuGwPFFTEaD6AQ5lpraIw3jjv9gdnzzre2qZA2f-IAKAn3xQ4aw8EjcP_hnGiTrfec1pe6nTV6U_4arhdLLkAvxsFRqU6OVdsF77vTenpYX_wJiYnqhvAMfQlwEb9oMphUQxbcg/s320/mm8.jpg" width="234" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>7.... do you feel its important for others to pursue their dream jobs? </b></span><br />
<br />
Extrapolating from my own experience, I'm tempted to answer yes, but I realize it sounds patronizing to say that people who are not working their dream jobs ought to pursue them. Who am I to say what they should value in life? I'm sure there are many ways to be happy.<br />
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>8.... where can people see your work (online, conventions or exhibits)? </b></span><br />
<br />
My art is best seen online. Some of it can be found in book stores, mostly in Sweden. I sometimes exhibit physical prints too, but not very often.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPpA4UhGObImK_lMAK68Y_ZSyP-yZphQv5cY8G1kaY9Rgyn8CpVdvvMVS8R0xxzymJ1Y5uX07cxf9puTs7UmsHLoNpx3oZw0PvYgS4mP6ALucix3oYidHfZs1SZtkssToLmhcbxn3keVc/s1600/mm6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="226" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPpA4UhGObImK_lMAK68Y_ZSyP-yZphQv5cY8G1kaY9Rgyn8CpVdvvMVS8R0xxzymJ1Y5uX07cxf9puTs7UmsHLoNpx3oZw0PvYgS4mP6ALucix3oYidHfZs1SZtkssToLmhcbxn3keVc/s320/mm6.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>9.... was there a certain moment that you knew you wanted to be an artist ? </b></span><br />
<br />
As a kid I pictured myself becoming an artist, but I took my time reaching a decision. For many years other interests dominated. I studied History and Archaeology at university and worked as a field archaeologist. Over time I gradually found my way back to art. Today I sometimes worry that I lost too much time, that a horde of hyper-committed teenagers will trample me. But I'm also grateful that I've done other things in life.<br />
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>10.... is there anything else you would like to add or say to other artists ? </b></span><br />
<br />
Keep up the good work! And thanks for having me on the blog!<br />
<br />

<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>1.... who is your favorite artist?</b></span><br />
<br />
Really tough question. Living or dead? <br />
Living I'd say I look forward to seeing the new work of Paul Bonner (<a href="http://www.paulbonner.net/">link</a>) and Petar Meseldzija (<a href="http://www.petarmeseldzijaart.com/">link</a>) probably the most of anyone. Scott Gustafson (<a href="http://scottgustafson.com/">link</a>) and Donato Giancola (<a href="http://www.donatoart.com/">link</a>) are awesome too. I would also say that Peter DeSeve (<a href="http://www.peterdeseve.com/">link</a>) and Carter Goodrich (<a href="http://cartergoodrich.com/">link</a>) were what got me here and are guys whose work I still absolutely love. There are just too many...<br />
<br />
For the dead guys I am a huge Rembrandt (<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rembrandt">link</a>) fan. I also have drawn a lot from the works of Draper (<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herbert_James_Draper">link</a>), Bouguereau (<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William-Adolphe_Bouguereau">link</a>), Mucha (<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alphonse_Mucha">link</a>) and Dore (<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gustave_Dor%C3%A9">link</a>). <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVDYzWbyD5S2gVuSiWRjrwtZnpVmOXcY0sm0UGqC8uWVms7lPs7NvNYFW8M6utdxeZhA3M6YojI7TSwbfVbzVLyWRViD2ujOCg86uqcApAj8yaUZu39ngOu5H2O_wOxfEJm7Y7Y-Wc7eE/s1600/j10.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVDYzWbyD5S2gVuSiWRjrwtZnpVmOXcY0sm0UGqC8uWVms7lPs7NvNYFW8M6utdxeZhA3M6YojI7TSwbfVbzVLyWRViD2ujOCg86uqcApAj8yaUZu39ngOu5H2O_wOxfEJm7Y7Y-Wc7eE/s320/j10.jpg" width="213" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>2.... do you offer workshops for artists?</b></span><br />
<br />
Yes. Mostly live appearances, but online ones will be coming soon! Watch for it on my blog at <a href="http://quickhidehere.blogspot.com/">quickhidehere.blogspot.com</a>!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgllh4Ok-2XVXhSJUZjKmOOcZGuzS4gHuYbBtB-2K87rUD4K2apWyFn_98N5ssD0HxLlWSp9tMikBznO0N82F69esCNVxmagF-tTcmG9IuIp0B_dnCDRC_FN0O0a4HtSAaA9r4hxJY8sTw/s1600/j11.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgllh4Ok-2XVXhSJUZjKmOOcZGuzS4gHuYbBtB-2K87rUD4K2apWyFn_98N5ssD0HxLlWSp9tMikBznO0N82F69esCNVxmagF-tTcmG9IuIp0B_dnCDRC_FN0O0a4HtSAaA9r4hxJY8sTw/s320/j11.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>3.... what do you like to listen to while you work?</b></span><br />
<br />
It varies based on what I am doing. If I am drawing or doing heavily creative work, I listen to instrumental music. Atmorock, soundtracks etc. Because they tend to help with concentration. But if I am just painting/rendering that stuff may put me to sleep, so I turn on more lyrically driven stuff. Recently it's been 90's altrock. <br />
<br />
Mostly though, I listen to audiobooks. I love a good audiobook.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEje34XueKsO54W8YO9ANfCnFafvF5_gZ4n7OQNKc111f-yWHGHBmy_ZieKw-oOpZkxBAEukCkJBR9TRD-001pLk07OJo_JxD1TvmgEQZZzutfs2YR1fTpS59FuPaou1tdtGvFeUH7Mg9bQ/s1600/j9.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="263" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEje34XueKsO54W8YO9ANfCnFafvF5_gZ4n7OQNKc111f-yWHGHBmy_ZieKw-oOpZkxBAEukCkJBR9TRD-001pLk07OJo_JxD1TvmgEQZZzutfs2YR1fTpS59FuPaou1tdtGvFeUH7Mg9bQ/s320/j9.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>4.... what medium and tools do you use to create your art?</b></span><br />
<br />
<br />
It is almost always mixed. Every piece has some traditional and some digital. For the traditional work it is usually watercolor and pencil, and every now and then acrylic or oil. For the digital aspects it is always Photoshop on a Wacom Intuos tablet. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQba06L1YXaacG8KxVPpc8quQBQqzr3DwqyVOOUwAezoGwKYXBSJr0NLOk8Qwbyz3VTTiJzKIPyg8C4xTs7W7NdQy99hgaNe6nAh5vho5LEKtViLGM9j8wuIAxfX3W6o8b4d9UTuHGdCA/s1600/j5.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQba06L1YXaacG8KxVPpc8quQBQqzr3DwqyVOOUwAezoGwKYXBSJr0NLOk8Qwbyz3VTTiJzKIPyg8C4xTs7W7NdQy99hgaNe6nAh5vho5LEKtViLGM9j8wuIAxfX3W6o8b4d9UTuHGdCA/s320/j5.jpg" width="247" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>5.... during an average week how many hours a day / week do you work on creating art?</b></span><br />
<br />
10 on average, usually about 6 days a week. Some weeks more, some weeks less. It is both my hobby and profession, so I tend to spend a lot of the week doing it. <br />
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>6.... are you working your dream job?</b></span><br />
<br />
Absolutely. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSI5x5onWerRi193artx5bg-78s7OxrXfuWPA4njGZak9m5blJ2BWq8x6fGqQ7x9gqB1tKJE9pxI2C8PVS-SVEBcT8NWHc_PzNMTTKue1cxwUWQI16CcAL96CxqPuDpkIhwygQBau7zDM/s1600/j7.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSI5x5onWerRi193artx5bg-78s7OxrXfuWPA4njGZak9m5blJ2BWq8x6fGqQ7x9gqB1tKJE9pxI2C8PVS-SVEBcT8NWHc_PzNMTTKue1cxwUWQI16CcAL96CxqPuDpkIhwygQBau7zDM/s320/j7.jpg" width="256" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>7.... do you feel its important for others to pursue their dream jobs?</b></span><br />
<br />
This will sound strange but no. I think they should do what they love (well.. unless they are evil people whose dreams are to blow up the ocean or something, in which case, they shouldn't do what they love) I think most "good" people (who don't want to blow up the ocean) should do what they love, and if someone comes along and offers to pay them for it, then that is awesome. If someone doesn't, then who cares? Take a normal job and keep doing what you love on the side, even if it means doing it for nothing. Some of the most amazing work comes out of people who are just doing something because they love it, and not necessarily because it will make them rich and famous someday. There is just as much heart and passion in that as in getting paid for it. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhrUJGos41Pl3V15_Ypm1wH_0d5FoDNKBvzbcWDEc8ge_BZ07ee13HBdrHSL4K1PrzDxMGlmDzDM_GmRsbefye2k1wIzuIFCu34yIjC9JRMghfD-I28DVxBN8_lKVz6n92yWNBSW58ZBjs/s1600/j3.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="215" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhrUJGos41Pl3V15_Ypm1wH_0d5FoDNKBvzbcWDEc8ge_BZ07ee13HBdrHSL4K1PrzDxMGlmDzDM_GmRsbefye2k1wIzuIFCu34yIjC9JRMghfD-I28DVxBN8_lKVz6n92yWNBSW58ZBjs/s320/j3.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>8.... where can people see your work (online, conventions or exhibits)?</b></span><br />
<br />
I exhibit at many major conventions. DragonCon, Illuxcon and Spectrum Live are ones that I will be at this year and plan to exhibit at in the future. Online I keep a little blog called <a href="http://quickhidehere.blogspot.com/">quickhidehere.blogspot.com</a> and also contribute to <a href="http://muddycolors.blogspot.com/">Muddycolors.blogspot.com</a> which if you haven't heard of and are interested in illustration, you should absolutely check out. Some of the brightest talents working now post there regularly and I have learned so much from it.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjLypCqUZvrvEKVnixph_A9ZX37VwfWxwdG6j4EPU5L9BlbVrONQ4vhQ_XCdB2QKfHc_7I4qPQ0Ubzy2LGQ_uDAw5Fh-0LcceRtSzaXAbxNvIong1EjBwnzouFb_pm1dSqfxdaZkU3zPgI/s1600/j8.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjLypCqUZvrvEKVnixph_A9ZX37VwfWxwdG6j4EPU5L9BlbVrONQ4vhQ_XCdB2QKfHc_7I4qPQ0Ubzy2LGQ_uDAw5Fh-0LcceRtSzaXAbxNvIong1EjBwnzouFb_pm1dSqfxdaZkU3zPgI/s320/j8.jpg" width="220" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>9.... was there a certain moment that you knew you wanted to be an artist?</b></span><br />
<br />
Yes, it was when I was very young, and I made a picture of a crocodile saving a tiny fish from a terrible whale. I had created this thing, this world with crayons. It felt like real magic. These strange colored sticks made sense of the world. I have been addicted to drawing ever since. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUoikEOAWsbZ8DmLP3H-NUO95MVTorzrlA2DIiegt2MyDm1D9eCTSm_8T_AhFfPNqvCCHXHwCG30MIGtYWmfB4TBrSjK4btu2veYe3-os5F9UMdeu0nQbA70jFzxGrCXODKfOVMbyHnJI/s1600/j6.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUoikEOAWsbZ8DmLP3H-NUO95MVTorzrlA2DIiegt2MyDm1D9eCTSm_8T_AhFfPNqvCCHXHwCG30MIGtYWmfB4TBrSjK4btu2veYe3-os5F9UMdeu0nQbA70jFzxGrCXODKfOVMbyHnJI/s320/j6.jpg" width="242" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>10.... is there anything else you would like to add or say to other artists?</b></span><br />
<br />
Do what you love. Don't do what you think the paying community at large will want. That is boring. I am more interested in what a person actually has to say rather than what they think I want to hear. <br />
<br />
Also, read, write and travel. These are the 3 most important things you can do to keep your art interesting. <br />
Also, draw every single day.<br />
<br />

<span style="font-size: large;"><b>1.... who is your favorite artist?</b></span><br />
<br />
At the moment Justin Gerard (<a href="http://www.quickhidehere.blogspot.com/">link</a>). I can't see that changing anytime soon, his work is top notch and has such a great style.<br />
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>2.... do you offer workshops for artists?</b></span><br />
<br />
I do not, I still consider myself to be learning a lot, although I suppose that will never change. I do help out a lot of other students at my school though and I'm always willing to give feedback on a piece. Maybe someday I'll do a workshop in the distant future.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>3.... what do you like to listen to while you work?</b></span><br />
<br />
Various audio books (usually fantasy) or Pandora, specifically bands in the range of Pendulum, Josh Garrels, Jeremy Casella, Mumford & sons, Glitch Mob and tons of other random stuff.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>4.... what medium and tools do you use to create your art?</b></span><br />
<br />
I always start with a pencil drawing and from there I usually take it into photoshop for everything else. Every once in awhile I'll break out some watercolors.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjzp69ccXqPfZdSGp2AY3jTri-YFI6cDmJtWXk73AqU-9UIvgQSm36Uv-AHRJD7vGbJTNzNRhNiSFgmQQTLh5JvrgtNFD0K9mOy_akLP9AmVuLPRX2lvlsCoZqtd2UazIi20esXNl3qDNw/s1600/w5.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjzp69ccXqPfZdSGp2AY3jTri-YFI6cDmJtWXk73AqU-9UIvgQSm36Uv-AHRJD7vGbJTNzNRhNiSFgmQQTLh5JvrgtNFD0K9mOy_akLP9AmVuLPRX2lvlsCoZqtd2UazIi20esXNl3qDNw/s320/w5.jpg" width="251" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>5.... during an average week how many hours a day / week do you work on creating art?</b></span><br />
<br />
Hmm well naturally it varies, I would say in the range of to 30-40 hrs a week.<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>6.... are you working your dream job?</b></span><br />
<br />
Well yes and no. My goal is to making a living off of art that I enjoy doing, which is true of what I do now, however if I were more specific, no I am not doing concept art for the next Zelda game or working for Lego XD, although I am in the process of pursuing the latter.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>7.... do you feel its important for others to pursue their dream jobs?</b></span><br />
<br />
Absolutely, set goals not limits.<br />
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>8.... where can people see your work (online, conventions or exhibits)?</b></span><br />
<br />
Here are my websites.<br />
<br />
My online portfolio: <a href="http://www.westalbott.daportfolio.com/">www.westalbott.daportfolio.com/</a><br />
My DeviantArt: <a href="http://www.wes-talbott.deviantart.com/">www.wes-talbott.deviantart.com/</a><br />
My Blog: <a href="http://www.westalbott.blogspot.com/">www.westalbott.blogspot.com/</a><br />
<br />
As for conventions I currently only attend IlluXcon. I will actually have a table there this year so if you plan on traveling to Altoona PA I will be there. I'm planning on making it to Spectrum Live next year as well although we'll see if that actually happens.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>9.... was there a certain moment that you knew you wanted to be an artist?</b></span><br />
<br />
Well I have always been artistic and for the most part have been drawing my entire life. It wasn't till I was 18 that I decided I wanted to be a professional artist though.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Well there is always the usual advice of practice a ton. Which can't be more true. The I guess some additional Wes Talbott advice would be to always think of others first. If you want to work for someone make sure you do your best to please them. Successful art is art that achieves a purpose in the best way possible. Whether that purpose is to bring joy to the people that view it or to properly represent a company's standards. If that is your goal you will never turn in a bad piece of work and you will enjoy every piece you make because it fulfills it's purpose.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7fqONC26WhL21VRCdfNVu8EkJLsRFc_TR_dJ7XkuZOcf0DMqgraw3Xc9Zuq7jM2x2k9k31DRwi6-ur34Mtf41mdxbzTv78Z_UIQJg3scVGKbh67b_LfatiOMafkEkEH8W97sk8VRto_g/s1600/c4.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="319" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7fqONC26WhL21VRCdfNVu8EkJLsRFc_TR_dJ7XkuZOcf0DMqgraw3Xc9Zuq7jM2x2k9k31DRwi6-ur34Mtf41mdxbzTv78Z_UIQJg3scVGKbh67b_LfatiOMafkEkEH8W97sk8VRto_g/s320/c4.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>1.... who is your favorite artist?</b></span><br />
<br />
-I have several artists in the list but Kim Jung Gi (<a href="http://www.superani.com/new_book.htm">link</a>) is on the top! That man is a machine, the way he do sketches with curved perspective is simply amazing. My dream is to scavenge in his trash to see what he eat to be such a great artist!<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b><br />2.... do you offer workshops for artists?</b></span><br />
<br />
-No this time but I did some free video tutorials to help the artist community, I like to share my "techniques" and I feel bad for all the artists that hide how they work and not share a single step by step with the rest of the artists. I was an amateur as everyone else and that's why I decide give the videos for free, because was very difficult find info back in the days when the internet was only 56k and no youtube around.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjniFNxpLM5x7HToDXO_JyGUMzICssWSh_yDtTGSWRYpgNbNmCFH91vAoNasbXIN_VDHyrNrPsL3qyJfyVd2_DU67rI0j8buTi1NHG3PUz2uVnqH1qvZMkODpTDln5Xd29R_fA3l6dzXJY/s1600/c2.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjniFNxpLM5x7HToDXO_JyGUMzICssWSh_yDtTGSWRYpgNbNmCFH91vAoNasbXIN_VDHyrNrPsL3qyJfyVd2_DU67rI0j8buTi1NHG3PUz2uVnqH1qvZMkODpTDln5Xd29R_fA3l6dzXJY/s320/c2.jpg" width="247" /> </a></div>
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>3.... what do you like to listen to while you work?</b></span><br />
<br />
-Silence :) and if someone is talking like a parrot I just pick some Joe Hisaishi performance or Daft Punk if I sleep just 3 hours. <br />
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>4.... what medium and tools do you use to create your art?</b></span><br />
<br />
-Digital for all my artwork, I have a Cintiq 12wx and is a piece of crap the quality of the lcd, the stroke shake like an old lady... So I bought a Samsung slate 7 Tablet pc, it doesn't have the same level pressure that the Cintiq but the quality of the LCD is 300 times better. The white is white, not like the Cintiq that is yellow.<br />
I'm trying in my free time start again with traditional like a real artist. I'm still need to learn more about color and acrylics and oils is the best way to learn that. <br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b> </b></span><br />

<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>5.... during an average week how many hours a day / week do you work on creating art?</b></span><br />
<br />
-Well.. I work from Monday to Monday, no rest for the wicked :P. Like 12? or 16 hours per day. I don't remember how the sun looks like, my good eye is now adapted to the bright of the monitor, I think if someone drop me in the street I will burn and scream like a vampire hahah But yeah, I work too much, but it's because I'm finishing my first videogame with my Brother and we are right there! very exited to show the world what 2 people with hard work can accomplish.

<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>6.... are you working your dream job?</b></span><br />
<br />
-Yes, making a personal project. Our videogame. This is the dream job. Working for game company was excellent, I can't deny that. But the situation of my banana country kills our wallets and work for Ubisoft or Timegate studios is not making a real difference in a third world country as Argentina. And make a personal project is more exiting than ideas from other people. Freelance is great if you have a great country behind, but helps.. and a lot!<br />

<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>7.... do you feel its important for others to pursue their dream jobs?</b></span><br />
<br />
-Always, if you don't do it it's because you don't have blood in your veins. You want to live a life just of obey, procreate and pay taxes? Hell no! that's not life. Everyone has a dream, if the school, the tv or the social system don't wash your brain you can pursue and make that dream true. And age doesn't matter, you always can start to dream again!<br />
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>8.... where can people see your work (online, conventions or exhibits)?</b></span><br />
<br />
-Only online right now, in my websites. You can find the links below the blue troll I painted ;)<br />

<span style="font-size: large;"><b><br />9.... was there a certain moment that you knew you wanted to be an artist?</b></span><br />
<br />
-Yes, the last time I empty a trash can from other people for bucks. That's no life and every artist know it when the time come, you just trow up all and start to focus just in art.<br />
<br />

<span style="font-size: large;"><b>10.... is there anything else you would like to add or say to other artists? </b></span><br />
<br />
-If someone told you that you don't have future as an artist and go find a common job, eat that comment like a sandwich, practice like anyone else and later burp dollars in his face. You can't quit, you are not a loser that can't pursue a dream, you an artist! You can do something than the 90% of the people can't or don't want to do. You born with talent and you HAVE to use it. Pull a lever like a trained monkey is easy, became a great artist is hard like everything else in life so if you want to walk an easy path, go and find a job in an office, be the slave of someone else and have a lot of kids. If not, you have only one way path, the hard work path, and only real man and woman can walk there. And remember never give up to your dreams, only cowards do it and you are an artist!<br />
Thanks to Eric for this great interview and wish you the best for your blog and all the artists that comment here. <br />

That's really hard to choose just one. Also, my favorite artist changes over different periods in my life. I guess the artist I keep going back to is Frazetta (link), who just seemed to have the perfect blend of everything. I can look at his work over and over and still be amazed every time.<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9JSe5c2bvMe9FGLA-Ar3m4_y-G6kAiKVmSge_V2utN8DA0w_t9TfeW_1MsVC9ShbJCa36v7uL1wU4IMRP-UE1A8VPwlMwePVJjRO6tJynKVpCqrSnVpJibUh4xaafKsRz2hct_GqtP74/s1600/dm3.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 202px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9JSe5c2bvMe9FGLA-Ar3m4_y-G6kAiKVmSge_V2utN8DA0w_t9TfeW_1MsVC9ShbJCa36v7uL1wU4IMRP-UE1A8VPwlMwePVJjRO6tJynKVpCqrSnVpJibUh4xaafKsRz2hct_GqtP74/s320/dm3.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5726578497095022786" border="0" /></a><span style="font-size:130%;"><span style="font-weight: bold;">2.... do you offer workshops for artists?</span></span><br /><br />I have done workshops in the past with a local group here in Vancouver, but it isn't a regular thing. Recently I started offering private 1 on 1 sessions, which are a lot of fun. Students get so much more out of them. The Problem is finding time - I have to fit any teaching in between all my other responsibilities. However, I do enjoy teaching a lot and would like to do more when I can.<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhpUeNKGnPmbiC5hs7PZ4yoP2yb_Mtd4o3txL3Q-47abihJWGCPALQvPO45ilvrJ8BTG1a_AqCK8vpZFwlr4SyCPTjNl0nKf_PrELu90mMstrE6sb8D9LVPqb9Sma3n8fpepO90JXqcCzE/s1600/dm2.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 147px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhpUeNKGnPmbiC5hs7PZ4yoP2yb_Mtd4o3txL3Q-47abihJWGCPALQvPO45ilvrJ8BTG1a_AqCK8vpZFwlr4SyCPTjNl0nKf_PrELu90mMstrE6sb8D9LVPqb9Sma3n8fpepO90JXqcCzE/s320/dm2.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5726578491608424514" border="0" /></a><span style="font-size:130%;"><span style="font-weight: bold;">3.... what do you like to listen to while you work?</span></span><br /><br />Anything and everything, my playlist is very eclectic. I love movie soundtracks, they are great for setting a mood while working. Classical music can be very relaxing. I also love a lot of classic rock, and my guilty pleasure is current top 40 stuff. Generally I tend towards stuff with mood.....like the soundtrack to Conan for example, or stuff by Ennio Morricone...you just kind of feel like a bad-ass listening to that stuff.<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdAp4ET-QMpKz6HIFsfWYjBBGaqbEBZCl-mmS_-1feZPxomIbSGzKEna4Lu5rESoQmumTrK-6acpwEpsIQ8xYlxPqdJNPK8gxbkCc1ksqQznCMj3ollMF__f6RQxAI_TxKVRxmm-5q1Tk/s1600/dm4.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 171px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdAp4ET-QMpKz6HIFsfWYjBBGaqbEBZCl-mmS_-1feZPxomIbSGzKEna4Lu5rESoQmumTrK-6acpwEpsIQ8xYlxPqdJNPK8gxbkCc1ksqQznCMj3ollMF__f6RQxAI_TxKVRxmm-5q1Tk/s320/dm4.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5726578503426284514" border="0" /></a><span style="font-size:130%;"><span style="font-weight: bold;">4.... what medium and tools do you use to create your art?</span></span><br /><br />Most of my art is 100% digital, done in Photoshop from start to finish. I stopped scanning in art years ago, now I just work directly on the computer. I love drawing in my sketchbook for relaxation, and for that I just use a regular ballpoint pen. When I do lifedrawing I just use big sheets of manilla paper with 2B conte....nothing fancy at all.<br /><br /><br /><span style="font-size:130%;"><span style="font-weight: bold;">5.... during an average week how many hours a day / week do you work on creating art?</span></span><br /><br />hm, probably at least 8 hours a day, sometimes more or less depending on how busy or inspired I am. A regular work day consists of a lot of stuff other than doing art as well, such as answering client emails, tracking expenses, gathering reference etc. So the art is on top of all that stuff.<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmqmG5X09b6xiK7cwfUXott6XMQ2BPfPZrKh9mZv1GQGigxOzSLJkwVyhpEXqMY7BWuoeq506mw0iOqA34GURw4PDUCHLGKIAArrEOAOGUDyNJsNm17-m5f0u66Fa0hLwZvlgY3VrsYnU/s1600/dm1.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 189px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmqmG5X09b6xiK7cwfUXott6XMQ2BPfPZrKh9mZv1GQGigxOzSLJkwVyhpEXqMY7BWuoeq506mw0iOqA34GURw4PDUCHLGKIAArrEOAOGUDyNJsNm17-m5f0u66Fa0hLwZvlgY3VrsYnU/s320/dm1.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5726578490122204578" border="0" /></a><span style="font-size:130%;"><span style="font-weight: bold;">6.... are you working your dream job?</span></span><br /><br />As a kid I dreamed of doing this, so I guess you could say yes. I definitely couldn't imagine doing anything else, and there is really nothing else I'm good at. So for me this is a really good fit. I think when I was younger I think I thought it would be a lot more glamorous, so that part didn't work out so well. In reality it's a ton of hard work, and not a lot of sports cars and super models. =) But yes, overall I am very happy.<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZSxN_jSJcyUbp-HaiNQSMEc1yhRWu1WdZFBiUuIL6zp1atFYiNejoTixB7R8DusEkvnBknmKma-MVtRIdE29Uf9Vehkazcf8mNJDxCNlHP0D5asenILoM2afL-tliWazMInk0usalMxM/s1600/dm5.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 156px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZSxN_jSJcyUbp-HaiNQSMEc1yhRWu1WdZFBiUuIL6zp1atFYiNejoTixB7R8DusEkvnBknmKma-MVtRIdE29Uf9Vehkazcf8mNJDxCNlHP0D5asenILoM2afL-tliWazMInk0usalMxM/s320/dm5.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5726578505668187970" border="0" /></a><span style="font-size:130%;"><span style="font-weight: bold;">7.... do you feel its important for others to pursue their dream jobs?</span></span><br /><br />I don't know, I think only they can answer that. For me it was important. For someone else it might not be that important - everyone is different. The question isn't should you go after your dreams , but rather how bad do you want it, and what are you prepared to give up? How single-minded can you be? That's kind of what it boils down to. I think it's a rewarding endeavor though, even if you don't end up achieving that 'dream' job....in the long run it will make you a better person.<br /><br /><span style="font-size:130%;"> <span style="font-weight: bold;">8.... where can people see your work (online, conventions or exhibits)?</span></span><br /><br />The best place is online - www.mandrykart.com.
