10 Questions With Adrian Smith
1.... who is your favorite artist?
now Eric, i think you know this is a difficult question to answer unless i was to list the 'hundreds' of artists i admire and respect.
2.... do you offer workshops for artists?
ive never been asked to....i have done some 'lectures' on my methods and techniques for a few universities in Seoul, Korea, and Belgrade, thats about it.
3.... what do you like to listen to while you work?
if im not listening to audio books then its more often than not grindcore bands, 'napalm death' being the very best of them all ofcourse
4.... what medium and tools do you use to create your art?
i use traditional methods such as oils, watercolours etc or digital.
5.... during an average week how many hours a day / week do you work on creating art?
on average i work atleast 12 hours a day, often longer, depending on circumstances.
6.... are you working your dream job?
im doing what i enjoy doing yes, not always a 'dream' though. some jobs im given can be a bit of a nightmare sometimes.
well, yes, but im aware that its not always possible ofcourse. if you cant do something you love as a job then i think its important that you atleast try to do what you enjoy in your own time.
8.... where can people see your work (online, conventions or exhibits)?
online for sure. various publications. i have a gallery in Paris that shows my work sometimes-'galerie daniel maghen' (link) a very fine bunch indeed. alot of my work is concept work for computer games, as i have to pay those bills so people sometimes see my work without realising its mine.
yes, when i realised that the artbooks i used to read through in book shops as a kid were not magically appearing or conjured up but they were created by people who actually got paid (if they were lucky) for doing those images.
erm.....keep up the good work!
